About Erin Romero PhD
I began my career at Georgetown University, earning a degree in Finance with a minor in Psychology. After working as a consultant at Bain & Company, I felt called to more meaningful work and made the transition to clinical psychology. I went on to earn my doctorate degree from Northwestern University. I have spent the past 18 years working as a clinical psychologist within the Veterans Affairs System.
My work has focused on trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD,). I’ve had the privilege of serving in both clinical and leadership roles at the local and national level. I am a trainer and consultant for Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and have dedicated much of my career to expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based mental health care. At the heart of my work is helping people regain a sense of stability, purpose, and connection in their lives.
Beyond my professional background, I bring many life experiences into the room. I am a mother, a teacher, a researcher, a runner, and an animal lover. I’ve experienced profound loss, and I understand how life can shift in unexpected ways. I’m also someone who has taken a nontraditional path, changing careers to follow a deeper sense of purpose.
These experiences shape my perspective, but therapy is not about me. Therapy is about you. My role is to understand your story, meet you where you are, and support you in finding clarity, healing, and a way forward that feels meaningful and sustainable.
